Walk from Obesity Update. The ASMBS Foundation’s Walk from Obesity logo, website, and fundraising platform have all recently received a new look.

The design of the Walk from Obesity website has been streamlined to allow for easier navigation and access to event locations. Website users can also find fitness and nutritional tips, healthy recipes, and information regarding bariatric surgery, and weight loss options. We encourage you to visit www.WalkfromObesity.com to check out the new website, and find an event in your area.

The Foundation’s peer-to-peer fundraising platform, DonorDrive, also received a new look, and will now include other ASMBS Foundation programs, such as the LEAD Awards, Operation M.O.R.E. and the new National Pedometer Challenge (coming soon). DonorDrive not only allows constitutes of the Foundation to make personal donations, but also gives them the opportunity to raise funds for obesity research and education. You can view the new website by visiting fundraise.ASMBSFoundation.org

A new type of event has been added to the list of traditional Walk from Obesity events this fall. Walk from Obesity+Fitness Fun Run are non-competitive, “set your own pace” events, and, like a traditional Walk from Obesity event, encourages participants to run or walk as much or little as they choose. There will be five +Fitness Fun Runs this fall in Greenville, North Carolina; Athens, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; Jacksonville, Florida, and Edinburg, Texas.

A new promotional registration option has also been added to the 2015 fall events. Early Bird Registration now allows individuals to register online for free using a promo code listed on each Walk from Obesity event page. By offering Early Bird Registration this fall we hope to increase participant numbers and encourage individuals to fundraise.

Additionally, we are happy to introduce our new Walk from Obesity Campaign Partners:
•    The American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM)
•    National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists (ABPNS)
•    American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS)
•    The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC)

The Walk from Obesity Campaign Partner Program was established to expand our collective outreach through collaboration and networking for a common cause: obesity prevention, education, research and access to quality care and treatment.
