Reader Feedback/Memories and a Message from the Managing Editor
BT Reader Feedback/Memories
We reached out to the BT reader community for their thoughts on what the journal meant to them, how it impacted their practice, or any memories they have of it. Below are select responses:
“Bariatric Times allowed for stories to grow and education to be forthcoming. As a patient-provider, this publication allowed a space for the two worlds to come together. Thank you to all those involved!”
-Timisha Malone, LICSW, LMSW, MSW
“Having the electronic Bariatric Times journal was helpful to stay abreast of the information in the field of bariatric management.”
-Hema Mahesh Kumar, RD, CBE, CDE
“Bariatric Times established itself as a premiere publication serving a wide variety of bariatric healthcare practitioners by providing research-based scholarship, raising awareness of current trends in weight loss surgery (WLS), enhancing professionalism within the WLS provider community, and delivering content designed to benefit the overall patient experience.”
-Aaron J. Goodman, Esq.
“I always look forward to BT coming out. The knowledge, free CEU/CMEs and, of course, Walter Pories’s cartoon is invaluable. I have always recommended BT to my colleagues over the years. Thank you for the work behind the scenes over the years!!”
-Gwen Crispell, MSN, RN, CBN
A Message from the Managing Editor
Over six years ago, I started working at Matrix Medical Communications, the company that published Bariatric Times, as an assistant editor. I was immediately put into a position where I had a lot of involvement in the journal, and I quickly realized how close-knit and engaged this community was.
It has been a tremendous experience helping to edit BT and learning about bariatric surgery, the struggles that patients with obesity deal with daily, and all the treatment options that have been developed over the years to help them.
I want to thank Angela Saba, who served as Managing Editor prior to me, and Amanda Tolvaisa, who has been my assistant editor since 2021, for their help over the years in making this journal great. Also, thank you to all the Clinical Editors, Editorial Board members, column editors, and authors for contributing to the journal all these years. And thank you to the journal’s long-time publisher, Robert Dougherty. I am honored to be a part of the 20 years the journal was published.
While the journal itself is going away, our brand is not, and I look forward to continuing to interact with the community in the digital projects that we create. Stay tuned for new programs in 2024.
Sincerely,
Austin Vitelli
