Cookbook Now Available!
Under the lead of our current board president, Dr. Marina Kurian, we have worked tirelessly to bring you our newest cookbook entitled “Deliciously Healthy! Recipes from Around the Country.” Hundreds of recipes were submitted, reviewed, edited, cooked and photographed by our staff and members of the ASMBS.
This cookbook is a collection of over 80 recipes from members of the bariatric community including healthcare professionals, such as the famous Dr. Walter Pories, and weight loss surgery patients and their families.
We are excited to announce that the cookbook is finally available for order. For a $20 tax-deductible donation to support the mission of the ASMBS Foundation we will send you an individual copy. This book also makes for a great gift for your patients and support groups. Consider ordering a case of 30 books at a 20% discount to share with your practice.
To order your copy visit our website www.ASMBSFoundation.org/cookbook. We are very proud of this book and we hope you enjoy it!
Highlight Your Practice’s Weight Loss Treatments & Service to Your Community. The ASMBS Foundation’s Walk from Obesity raises awareness of obesity and the treatment options that are available in communities across the country, while helping to raise funds to support the mission of the ASMBS Foundation. The opportunity and privilege to host this unique event is only available to members of the ASMBS, and is a great way for your hospital, program, or private practice to engage with your community.
Hosting a Walk from Obesity can help highlight the services your organization provides, offers a celebration of success for current and past patients, all while showing your community and peers that your organization is a leader in the fight against obesity!
We ask that you please take the time to review our FAQs online at www.WalkfromObesity.com/host to learn more about hosting an event in your area. You may also contact our Program and Events Director, Randy Slade, with any additional questions you may have at [email protected].
The application deadline to host an event this fall is June 9th. Please share this information with members of your team and/or practice.

One Day. One Challenge. One Cause. Mark your calendars for the 3rd annual United We Step ChallengeSM coming October 31, 2017!
Over the last two years, the ASMBS Foundation has held a national step challenge to raise awareness of obesity in America. Through this campaign we have been able to share our message with hundreds of individuals and raise funds to support obesity research, education, and advocacy initiatives.
This year we are changing the event back to a single day challenge and adding in a new component. Every penny raised by the participants will be converted into one step towards their personal and/or team’s step count. Like always, the team with the most steps will take home the golden trophy. Team Celebration led by Dr. Keith Kim has gone undefeated the last two years. Can your team steal the trophy from them this year?
Registration opens this summer. Visit www.UnitedWeStep.com to learn more.
2017 LEAD Awards. The ASMBS Foundation’s annual LEAD Awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with ObesityWeek 2017 in Washington DC. Each year we honor those who have shown outstanding leadership and dedication to the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery. A call for nominations will be sent out in June. To learn more about our awards and to see past award recipients please visit our website www.ASMBSFoundation.org/lead.
