ASMBS Foundation News and Update—December 2014

As 2014 comes to a close, we would like to thank everyone who has supported the ASMBS Foundation this year. Since the Foundation’s inception, your support and contributions has helped us raise $7.5 million to continue our mission of supporting ASMBS research and education, raising awareness of obesity, and improving access to quality care and treatment.
In order to meet our goal, we need to raise another $50,000 before the end of this year, and we need your help. Please consider making a charitable, tax-deductible donation to the ASMBS Foundation by December 31, 2014. With your support the ASMBS Foundation will be able to continue funding ASMBS initiatives. LEAD Awards. The ASMBS Foundation’s 2nd Annual LEAD Awards was held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel in conjunction with Obesity Week 2014. Over 200 guests attended the award ceremony, and approximately $22,000 was raised in support of obesity research, education, advocacy, and access to quality care and treatment.

Walk from Obesity. Thank you to all of those who have hosted Walks in their communities, participated in a Walk, or supported a Walker. Your contribution to the Walk from Obesity has helped the ASMBS Foundation raise obesity awareness and eliminate obesity stigma in cities all throughout the country.
2015 Spring Application Open. Kick-off the New Year right by signing up to host a Walk from Obesity in your area. The deadline to sign-up is December 31st, so be sure to act fast. Visit www.walkfromobesity.com/host-a-walk to learn more.

Operation M.O.R.E. To date, Operation M.O.R.E. (Monies for Obesity Research and Education) has raised just over one million dollars in support of the ASMBS.
